PATENT LICENSE

1. Types of Patent Licenses:

  • Exclusive License: This type of license grants the licensee exclusive rights to use, make, or sell the patented invention within a defined territory or field of use. The licensor cannot grant licenses to other parties for the same rights covered by the exclusive license.
  • Non-Exclusive License: In this type of license, the licensor can grant licenses to multiple licensees. Each licensee has the right to use, make, or sell the patented invention, and the licensor can also use the technology and grant licenses to others.

  • Sublicense: A sublicense is a license granted by the primary licensee to a third party. It allows the third party to use the licensed technology under the terms set out in the original license agreement.
